Although as much as you want to fight against the flow of the river, it is better that you let go by the force of it.

In Basel I started with -2 degrees in the morning. The temperatures had not descended more as I had feared. Thinking that if yesterday I had been able resist it, I would be able to do it again, encouraged me.

I left Basel at 9:00 and scheduled my route to cross the border of Switzerland with Germany (Koblenz), continuing later on to Schaffhausen, heading towards Konstanz and passing at the north shore of Lake Bodensee to get to my final destination, the city of Lindau.

The first two hours the route did not have special attractions, as it almost always followed the on country roads, accompanied by the constant traffic of cars that exists in the region. Later on the landscape becomes more interesting, passing the side of the Rhine on secondary roads but very well paved.

Shortly before 14:00 in Tiengen happened the unexpected. My rear wheel lost air, having to repair it as quickly as possible to take advantage of the few leftover daylight, which twinkled through the clouds lighting up the gray of the sky and the upcoming night.

At night at about 19:00 close to the town of Bietingen passing a small bumpiness of the cycle path my rear wheel bursted, which makes me to change the wheel again. The fixed wheel did not last long, in fact a couple of kilometres further the repair patch could not take it anymore and the wheel started loosing air again.

I did another attempt to fix the wheel for the third time, coming finally to the conclusion that the glue was’t working any more, and there was no other choice for me but to take a train from Gottmadingen to Lindau.

At the end of that day I ended up a little frustated wishing to have done more kilometres of cycling already, but having to give up due to technical problems. My schedule for the next two days had to be adjusted to complete the 500 kilometers.
